The combination of goat cheese, prosciutto, and figs is perfect for fall. I love making simple, low-effort dishes this time of year, and this recipe is one of them.
Serve it as an appetizer or a light dinner—it’s up to you. Caramelized onions take a little time to prepare, but they pair beautifully with goat cheese and figs.
Enjoy it with a glass of wine for the perfect fall experience.
1 Yellow Onions (large, thinly sliced)
1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter
Pinch of Salt
2 Flatbreads
1 ½ tablespoons Olive Oil
½ cup Goat Cheese
4-5 Fresh Figs (sliced)
6 strips Prosciutto
½ cup Arugula
2 tablespoons Balsamic Glaze
In a large skillet over medium heat melt the butter. Add the onions to the skillet and season with salt.
Reduce heat to medium-low and continue to cook onions. Stirring every few minutes to prevent them from sticking and coloring too much in any one place. Keep cooking for about 30 to 40 minutes or until onions are soft and golden brown. Take off the heat and set aside.
Preheat the oven 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place the flatbreads on top of the prepared baking sheet and brush all over the top with olive oil.
Bake in the oven for about 5 to 6 minutes.
Take the flat breads out. Spread the goat cheese evenly on top. Place the sliced figs on top of the goat cheese and bake in the oven for another 10 minutes.
Arrange the prosciutto, caramelized onion and arugula on top.
Drizzle with balsamic glaze and enjoy!
