Is there anything better than the smell of vanilla and butter in the morning? These French toast bites are the ultimate breakfast or brunch treat—simple, fun to make, and perfect for serving in three different ways to please everyone.
Unlike regular French toast, the bread is cut into bite-sized pieces for extra crunch in every bite. I used vanilla bean, but you can swap in vanilla paste or extract.
They’re best enjoyed warm and crispy but can be refrigerated for up to two days and reheated before serving.
French Toast
4-5 thick slices of plain bread
2 eggs
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
3/4 cup milk
1/2 vanila bean
3 tablespoons butter
To Serve
2 teaspoon icing sugar
1/2 cup dark chocolate
1 tablespoon butter
Dulce de leche
maple syrup
Cut the bread into bite size pieces and set aside.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until combined.
Add the milk and vanilla and keep whisking for another minute.
Heat up a skillet or a non stick pan over medium heat and melt the butter in.
Dunk the bread pieces a few at a time, into the egg mixture. Make sure to coat all sides.
Transfer the bread into the skillet. Flip and cook until all sides are golden brown.
Meanwhile, in a small bowl add the dark chocolate and butter. Melt in microwave or over a double boiler.
Top the warm French toast bites with icing sugar. Serve with dulce de leche, melted chocolate and maple syrup. Enjoy!
