These phyllo Nutella triangles are an absolute treat. If you love Nutella, this recipe will leave you 100% satisfied! The recipe requires just a few ingredients and is very simple to make. It’s Nutella wrapped in layers of phyllo dough, baked until crisp, and finished with a dusting of icing sugar. I should warn you, though—it’s a bit of a messy treat to eat, but totally worth it!
6 sheets phyllo dough
190 grams Nutella (or the hazelnut spreads)
3 tablespoons butter (melted)
1 egg yolk
1/2 tablespoon icing sugar
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190ºC) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place the phyllo sheets on a clean surface. Cut each sheet into three equal wide strips lengthwise. Brush each strip with a small amount of butter. Pair the phyllo dough strips, placing one layer directly on top of the first.
Fill a piping bag with Nutella.
In one corner of the phyllo dough strips, pipe around 1/2 tablespoon Nutella (alternatively, you can just use a spoon instead of a piping bag). Next, fold the corner of the pastry with the Nutella over to reach the nearest opposite edge so the bottom of the strip forms a point. Then, fold again to the nearest opposite edge. Repeat until the strip is completely folded into a triangle.
Repeat the assembly with all the phyllo dough strips (use more Nutella if necessary). Place the triangles on the prepared baking sheet. In a small bowl whisk the egg yolk and brush it on top of the triangles.
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and crisp. Take them out of the oven and let them cool down for about 15 minutes.
Sift the icing sugar on top.
Serve warm and enjoy.
